St. Romanos of Lacedaemon (Feast Day - January 6); Icon depicts All Saints of Laconia |
Verses
Romanos was taken from the earth by the sword,
To where hundreds of Martyrs dwell.
To where hundreds of Martyrs dwell.
Saint Romanos was a priest from the village of Deminitza in Lacedaemon, Greece. For some reason he moved to Constantinople and was put under heavy pressure to deny his faith in Christ and convert to Islam. Father Romanos refused, and for this he was sentenced to death by beheading. This took place on January 6, 1695.
