On December 29, 2011 the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church, upon recommendation of Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, placed Saint Ephraim of Nea Makri the Newly-Revealed Martyr in the Menologion to be commerated in the Russian Orthodox Church annually on May 5th, the day of his martyrdom. This follows the decision of the Ecumenical Patriarchate on March 2nd of last year to have him placed among the choirs of saints commemorated by the Church.
