Yesterday, in the city of Jaramana, which is 10 kilometers southeast of the Syrian capital of Damascus, and consists primarily of a Christian and Druze population, Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East consecrated the largest to date church dedicated to the recently canonized Saint Paisios the Athonite, to the great joy of the Orthodox Christian population, which celebrated not only inside the church but also in the streets. Together with the large crowd of believers and the Patriarch, there were also many other Orthodox Hierarchs and Clergy present, as well as representatives from other Christian bodies, the military and government.
