Sts. Gaius, Faustus, Eusebius and Chaeremon (Feast Day - October 4) |
Verses
The four Deacons are joined together with Christ,
Faustus, Gaius, Eusebius and Chaeremon.
Faustus, Gaius, Eusebius and Chaeremon.
These four Saints were disciples of Saint Dionysios of Alexandria, who is commemorated on October 3rd, and they served the Church of Christ as Deacons. Gaius and Faustus were exiled with their teacher Saint Dionysios to Libya, and after suffering much together for many years, they died there a martyric death, Faustus being beheading. Eusebius and Chaeremon, after the exile of their teacher Saint Dionysios, would visit the Holy Martyrs who were in prison, and would bury those Christians who had no one to bury them; Eusebius also became Bishop of Laodicea. They were beheaded also after confessing their faith in Christ, and received the crown of martyrdom. Another disciple of Saint Dionysios, Maximos, had escaped exile and joined Eusebius and Chaeremon, and became the successor of his teacher as Bishop of Alexandria upon his death.
