Translation of the Relics of St. Anthmos of Chios (Feast Day - September 3) |
Our Venerable Father Anthimos of Chios reposed in peace before sunrise on February 15, 1960 at the age of 91. The next day his body was buried on the grounds of the monastery he established in Chios, the Monastery of Panagia Voithia, in a grave next to the church, near a pine tree he himself had planted.
The translation of his sacred relics took place on September 3, 1965, which was the feast of his patron saint, the Holy Martyr Anthimos of Nicomedia, as well as the feast of the Translation of the Sacred Relics of Saint Nektarios of Aegina. A large number of people gathered for the event and to venerate his sacred relics, which were brought into the Holy Sanctuary and placed to the right of the Holy Altar.
