St. Gerontius the Canonarch (Feast Day - April 1) |
Venerable Gerontius lived during the fourteenth century. He was a monk of the Kiev Caves Lavra and fulfilled the obedience of canonarch (leader of church singing). He spent his youth at the monastery, in ascetic deeds of abstinence, obedience, and prayer, and reposed at a young age. His incorrupt relics rest in the Far Caves with the other young canonarch Leontius.
